The Acer Predator XB241H has a 24-inch display and is a great 1080p G-Sync monitor. It’s one of the most affordable ways to get into variable refresh rate technology for those with Nvidia graphics cards.

It uses a TN panel and has a top refresh rate of 144Hz (180Hz with overclocking), you don’t get the amazing viewing angles and color gamut of an IPS display. It also doesn’t have any extra USB ports to plug-in peripherals, if that’s the kind of thing you’re into (though it does have both DisplayPort and HDMI inputs).

However, it costs hundreds less than the very best 1080p G-Sync monitors, and if you’re a gamer and the choice is between “cheap G-Sync or no G-Sync” then you should go for cheap G-Sync every time. Variable refresh rate technology is just that good.

alienware 25 inch aw2518hf gaming monitor

The Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor has a 25-inch display which uses a TN panel, which means high refresh rates, super-fast response time, high brightness at the expense of a wide color gamut and wide viewing angles. It’s a bit expensive for a 1080p monitor, but it has 240hz refresh rate and 1ms response time.

Pair this monitor with a high-end graphics card and get those super high refresh rates for the smoothest and most responsive gaming experience possible. It has USB 3.0 ports to plug-in accessories and an HDMI port to plug in a game console.

4. ViewSonic XG2703-GS

XG2703 GS Front

The ViewSonic XG2703-GS is a 27-inch monitorit features an “IPS-type” panel for more accurate colours and wide viewing angles. It’s response time is 4ms fast for most gamers.

We prefer this monitor over ASUS ROG Swift PG279QR because the ASUS monitor’s TN panel didn’t have the nice wide viewing angles of the IPS panel in the ViewSonic XG2703-GS. We didn’t really notice the difference of the faster refresh rate of the TN panel.
